A couple of little tweaks coming to Per shortly.
Better iOS 18 compatibility is the main attraction here, and I’m dropping support for anything earlier than iOS 17.6 — once I’m happy that everything is still working as expected.

Working title for tomorrow’s newsletter.
Added a bit more detail (and styling) to the @cheqin landing page. Aiming for some actual design work to ship in a couple of weeks.
Sometimes I wonder what percentage of my life is spent as an unwittinging A/B test participant. And am I team A or team B
“Sure, it’s not 2023 now, but who knows what the future might bring?”
– Homer Simpson, probably
Remember mouse pads?
As of iOS 18.1 beta 3, Apple Intelligence is now available in Canada — with the caveat that you’ll have to change your Siri language to “English (United States).”
I’ve been to five grocery stores/supermarkets in Montreal over the past couple of days and I can’t find any tomatoes that don’t look like they’ve been beat to hell. What’s going on?
It’s official, www.twocommoncents.club now redirects to the company newsletter archives. All posts should redirect there as expected, but drop me a line if you see any issues.
Last week of August. Lots to get done and lots to get cracking on, especially if I want to hit that Q4 target for shipping the new app. The hardest part has been dedicating time for, well, pretty much anything outside of the usual day-to-day chores and errands (and even then, just barely).
After trying out a logo-based profile picture for a couple of weeks, I’m back to using a (recent-ish) post-haircut selfie instead. It just feels better to connect with people rather than brands, you know?
Quiet mornings with Merlin.
He’s always extra cuddly while I’m having my first coffee of the day. This is, in fact, a trick; this sneaky little bugger just sets the purrbox to 11 and gives you kitten eyes until he gets his wet food around 6AM.
Still, it’s nice.
Toying with site logos for the reboot of Two Common Cents Club, which will (hopefully!) become a community related to @cheqin, the personal-finance-as-self-care app I’m working on.
Thoughts?
I’ve decided to shut down Two Common Cents Club — in its current form, at least. That content will move over to the business newsletter, and continue there.
I really should get around to adding some more details and, you know, CSS to the Cheqin landing page. It’s literally still unstyled HTML right now. 😅
Testing Micro.blog → Threads crossposting!
Created a new Micro.blog account for @cheqin, my upcoming personal finance app.
I didn’t want to make this a different blog on the same account; one is personal, and one is business, and IME it’s always best to separate the two.
(Now, if only the Micro.blog apps supported multiple accounts!)
Of course I sent out today’s newsletter without including a link for my second “Around The Web” entry. Fixed it in the web version.

Experimenting with SwiftUI code generation from ChatGPT and Claude. Claude seems far more thorough, including things like form input validation and data models.
I think I’m getting the hang of this newsletterr thing. Issue five of The Angelo Report goes out today at 5PM EDT and I’m actually kinda happy with it.
It’s the first of the month, so that means a new post at Two Common Cents Club, where I write about trying to grow my little side business!
📰 Issue 3 of The Angelo Report is now out:
Walked into an Apple Store and holy smokes they REALLY want you to try out Vision Pro. Had to refuse multiple times.
Going to try using my new website logo as my PFP on social for a bit. I think there’s more humanity to having your actual visage there, but let’s see.
