@numericcitizen I like your reasoning here.
For me, a paid sub on twocommoncents.club lets users comment on posts, receive articles as email newsletters, participate in AMAs, and get discounts on tools & services I use to run my business.

@ridwan I’m glad you’re feeling better. 🙂
@ridwan I’ll write a bit more about my thinking, but yeah — the app doesn’t bring in any material revenue so why dissuade more people from using it by charging, I guess?
@manton Pricing is so hard to get right!
I love that you call out the importance of looking back on price decisions with an eye towards simplifying things for customers. Seems extra important as a small, bootstrapped, business—do you plan on writing more about it when you’ve sorted it all out?
@jean yeah, the most annoying part is that the depleted AirPod didn’t seem to want to start charging. I don’t want to have to replace these but hopefully cleaning the contacts was all that was necessary.
@petebrown I probably need to clean the charging contacts inside the case but yeah, very annoying.
@ekcragg I’m too old to be that far from a bathroom for that long
Got a Dune 2 ticket presale email and my first thought was that I can’t deal with more than two hours in a theatre. It’s just much time spent sitting still in the dark, ugh.
@numericcitizen That’s a good question. In my case, it is commercial in nature, and AFAIK it doesn’t matter if it’s opt-in or opt-out. I’ll just eat the costs of the P.O. Box, I guess.
(At Two Common Cents Club only paid subscribers can get posts via email, and even then they have to actively enable the setting.)
@numericcitizen What are you doing about the address requirement for newsletters with Ghost? Buttondown includes a scan-lettermail service so you get a physical address (in Nevada, I think) you can add at the bottom of the newsletter to comply with CAN-SPAM laws but Ghost(Pro) doesn’t. Not loving the idea of having to rent a Post Office Box. 😕
@AngeloStavrow @maique I’m using Digest:
I don’t love it, but it’s good enough while we’re working on a nicer custom theme.
@maique let me check what I’m using on 2cc.club — the theme just shows the latest post but I’m not sure what the settings might be.
@SimonWoods I’m so glad that use case works for you! You’ve mentioned before and I’ve tried it and yeah, it really does help blow off some steam. 😅
@numericcitizen and very useful for someone shopping for a parka in July!
